On the 22nd September 2017 our Ty group set off for Delphi. That morning I was up bright and early to gather my stuff, we had to be in school for nine o'clock that morning as the bus was leaving at half nine, we set off for Delphi. On the bus everyone was asleep as we were out the night before as we got our junior cert results the day before. After a long three hour bus journey we arrived in Delphi. We were glad to see it. When we got there we were shocked as there was no phone signal, but the scenery was unbelievable, it was full of mountains waterfall's and rivers, when we got off the bus we were taken to the den and introduced to some of the members, we were then told where the facilities were and we were then given our rooms. The rooms were nice. At two o'clock we went to the activity center and we got split int two different group's, my group went and did the high ropes and the other group went surfing. Firstly we went to the activity center and we got harnesses and helmet's, we then walked to the high ropes. When we got there we saw three different games 1: we had to climb up a podium then jump out and try and hit the balls, 2: four of us had to climb up a pole and balance each other with out falling off. in the last game we had to climb up walk along a wire and then climb up higher and walk along a wooden pole. That evening at half five we had our dinner, chicken curry that tasted like water. After dinner we went for a walk in the forest. When we went back we met people from another school in Kilaloe, We talked to them for a while and we then had to go to our rooms at eleven o'clock .
The next day Thursday the 21st we were woke up by the house guard at eight o'clock in the morning, and had breakfast at half eight. After breakfast we went up to the activity center and got ready for our 20k hike. We left the adventure center at ten o'clock, we got onto a bus and set off to the destination of the hike, it was a half an hour bus journey to the destination. When we got there we prepared to set of, we were warm protective clothing and shoes, we brought loads of water and we then set off at 11. At first the walk was very tough as it was all up hill but when we we had our break from there on it was mostly down hill and the scenery was absolutely amazing. We didn't arrive back at the resort until five o'clock that evening, which was six hours after we started the hike. We were all really hungry, tired and sore. All we wanted was food and bed. That night we went for a campfire we sang songs and had a good time. That night we went to bed at eleven.
On Friday we were woken up at eight o'clock again, but I was really looking forward to today as my group were going surfing and I couldn't wait to go. We were given our wet suits which were wet and cold when we got them, we got on the bus at around half nine and set off for the beach. It was about a twenty minute bus journey to the beach. When we got off the bus at the beach the first thing we noticed was the huge waves and the freezing cold, we then went into the changing rooms and got changed and got our surf boards and we then went down to the beach. When we went down the instructure thought us how to use the surf boards and he thought us the hand signals which he used to tell us if there was danger etc. We then went out and started to surf, I found it very difficult to stand up on the board and i only managed to get standing about three times. Everyone really enjoyed this and I would love to do it again. We then got out of the water at 1 o'clock and we were back at the resort for 2 o'clock and the bus then arrived to take us home and we were all so tired and couldn't wait to go home. On the bus on the way home nearly everyone on the bus was asleep, I was never so glad to get home.
I really enjoyed Delphi and I thought it was a great experience but I don't think that I will be going back there anytime soon.
